Bishop's Elite Martial Arts Academy is a premier martial arts school located in Des Moines, IA, and serving the greater Des Moines area. Established with a passion for martial arts education, our academy offers a range of programs including group sessions, competition classes, private lessons, and demo teams for ages 6 and up. Bishop’s Elite Martial Arts is a great place for taking classes in White Tiger Kung Fu. My wife and I have joined the White Tiger Kung Fu (Bak Fu Pai) and we are having a wonderful time learning a new art that doesn’t involve much kicking because it is a close distance hand fighting and defense (think Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan). Shifu Lant teaches us forms (a new form for each color belt), Chin Na (which is the art of seizing and controlling using your hands), iron hand training, sticky hands, pushing hands and eventually broad sword training. The Chin Na is a great utilization of self defense techniques that you not only learn about but learn to use and instantly react to a variety of tense situations to neutralize an attacker. If you want to learn a new martial art that you can use your hands and your legs stay planted, Kung Fu might be for you. We also enjoy the challenges of new techniques but also are able to do so without being gymnastics like flexible. I highly recommend Bishop’s Elite Martial Arts for White Tiger Kung Fu!

I look forward toTai Chi class at Bishop Elite - it us truly my happy place. The instructor, Matt, is a black sash in Tai Chi who makes you feel comfortable regardless of your skill level. He combines humor with instruction to create a very relaxing yet informative class. My fellow students are a joy to be around. I never feel uncomfortable or embarrassed when I struggle with a skill. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and just laugh when we make mistakes. Matt is always ready to help us adapt the Tai Chi moves to our skill level. We even enjoy warm tea during our breaks and the class went out to brunch after class one Sunday. I cannot recommend this class enough! It is amazing.

Hey y’all! I have had nothing but a good experience with Bishops Elite . Good people to work with. I really enjoy the Tia- chi class I’m taking. I feel I could take this class for ever, or as long as it’s offered. This class has helped me in particular with my blood pressure issues and arthritis.
